KnotCastin'
29 Jun 2008 12:57 Author: Savrin
Apparently, people want KnotCast 'stuff'. Who would
have guessed. Looks like we'll have to talk about
getting some stuff put together. o.O
If KnotCast did merchandise, specifically a CD/DVD, what would people want on it?
We're also looking into possibly shirts, and of course the 24x36 posters with Ten's art on it.
Feedback plz.
Addendum from the panther: We want to get feedback not only on what people want, but what a good price would be. Feel free to propose a price for ideas other than your own. We may make tiered editions or something if people want just the episodes for $X and the background files for $Y.

Episode 15 - Token Females Abound
28 Jun 2008 02:27 Author: Savrin
This week on Knotcast, the token females have taken
over and outnumber poor Damien and Savrin. Fuzz and
Zap are off at Anthrocon so its up to those back in
Texas to continue the show. This week we discuss
potentially dangerous sex toys, sexual stamina, and a
quick question about lifestylers. Also, we dig up
some older emails for the token females to answer,
giving our listeners their take on some classic
emails. All this and more on episode 15 of KnotCast
This weeks song is "Real Live Girl" by Bob Burns and the Breakups. Check them out, alongside other bands at gearheadrecords.com.

KnotCast, now with stereophonic sound!

I’m thrilled to announce the little side project I’ve
been working on. I call it KnotCast 2.0. For the past
few episodes, we’ve been recording with a new process
that gives us stereo sound. Each host is to one side
or another in the “stage”, as it were. The new
process is documented over on our Technical page, in
case you’d like to read about it. I can also
answer questions directly.
The feed address for the stereo AAC is:
www.foxstuffers.com/Stereo_AAC/KnotCast2AAC.xml
We mostly recommend this for listening with headphones or surround sound. It doesn’t sound as good in cars or on smaller speaker systems. Hopefully, I can get the guys to record a little stereo demo clip so that people can test how it sounds on their equipment and in their environment.
Unfortunately, there is not a stereo MP3 feed yet. I’ve been creating the stereo MP3 files, but they average about 110 MB for the last four episodes. That will chew through bandwidth quota like nobody’s business, and we don’t want to drive up Furnation’s hosting bill. We will definitely be including them on the DVD we’re planning to sell, and if enough people ask for download access to them, we may be able to work something out.
We hope you enjoy the new feed!
Edit: Just got our first question about it, and it’s a good one.
Q: Is this the file that is downloaded through the podcast directory in iTunes?
A: No, iTunes’ podcast directory still has the monophonic AAC version. To subscribe to the new feed, go to the Advanced menu and pick “Subscribe to Podcast...”. Enter the URL above and hit OK. Now, you are subscribed to both feeds. If you like the stereo feed, please unsubscribe from the mono feed to save us some bandwidth each month.

20 Jun 2008 13:14 Author: Savrin
This week on KnotCast, we read some listener emails
and cover topics like sounding, man-whores, and how
to get rid of unwanted girlfriends. This weeks topic,
'How I Met Your Brother', has all kinds of responses,
sharing with us how they met their current mate.
Damien and Savrin also share their stories, and much
lulz are had. All this and more on episode 14 of
KnotCast

Episode 13 - When Shit Fucking Blows Up
13 Jun 2008 03:51 Author: Savrin
This week on KnotCast the crew tackles the unpleasant
topic of breakups. Not before we answer some other
great emails from our listeners. Topics like
minorities in the fandom, is being gay a choice, and
how a non-fur found the podcast. We then share some
of our personal tales of woe and launch into some
extremely messed up relationship breakups. All this

Episode 12 - The Dirty Dozen
07 Jun 2008 02:18 Author: Savrin
The crew is back in fresh form this week, taking to
heart some constructive criticism and running things
a little differently. Staying on target as best we
can and making with the funny ...at the same
time. Included this week are some tales of
secular parents acting just as crazy as fundies in
deaing with teh gay, the fetish lines we just won't
cross, and a quick discussion at the end about
masturbation. All this and more on episode 12 of
KnotCast.

Episode 11 - The Knot Strikes Back
02 Jun 2008 02:02 Author: Savrin
The crew is back together this week, fresh from RCFM
after we freed Fuzz from the bondage getup he was in
during episode 10. The funny abounds as we revisit
some emails we lost in the first attempt of the
previous episode, answer how to spank a fox, talk
about cons, and have some babyfurs write in to
facepalm at the antics of their brethren. All this
and more on episode 11 of KnotCast.

New equipment

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been slowly buying new
equipment for the podcast. Among the things I
purchased are five new dynamic vocal mics.
Admittedly, they’re el-cheapo microphones, but
considering that this isn’t exactly being mastered at
24-bit, 96 kHz, I don’t think mic quality would make
that big a difference. It’s enough that each host now
has his own mic.
From here out, you should hopefully notice much less background noise. Earlier, we miced two of the hosts with lapel mics and the other two with a single vocal condensor microphone. Since they can’t both be properly positioned for that single mic comfortably, I had to turn up the gain and step it back a little. Now that we can get a mic a few inches away from everyone, there is no need for that, so the mics won’t pick up as much room noise.
I have some other changes that I’m working on, but I’m not sure how well they will work. If I’m able to get good results, I’ll post more about them. For now, it’ll have to be enough to know that I’m not just sitting around and that I’m actively trying to improve things.
